Caron Cakes Granny Shawl

One of the crochet projects I finished over our very mild winter was a triangle scarf using this pattern.
The scarf/shawl is made using simple treble crochet in sets of three to make granny clusters - the pattern also has arm holes made so that it can be warn like a vest.
It was quite easy to do and it took 2 of the Caron Cakes in the "Cake Pop" colourway to make this.
Unfortunately, my usual model (daughter) has recently had her appendix out so I was unable to take some photos of her wearing the shawl.
So I resorted to using a dressmaker form for the photos and it actually matched the colours in the shawlquite well.
This was on my FAL Q3 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Coastal Ripple Crochet Blanket

I started this crochet blanket quite some time ago now in an effort to use up some of my leftover yarn from other projects.
The pattern is the Neat Ripple blanket by Lucy at Attic 24 which is one I have used a few times before.
To give it a beachy vibe, I mainly used shades of blue and green along with a few neutrals as I loved the colours in Lucy's original Coast Ripple blanket.
It was very hot and windy at the beach today and we even saw a few whales out in the ocean whilst having lunch.
And I found a convenient branch to hang it off to keep off the sand:)
Although through I have used a mix of different 8 ply yarns, the ripples look fairly even.
There are about 70 rows of stripes in the blanket which makes it large enough to go on a double (twin) bed.
This was on my FAL Q3 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Bloggers Quilt Festival - Legendary quilt

When we went on a recent holiday to Canada and the USA to celebrate our 50th birthdays this year, I returned with plans to make a special quilt for my hubbys actual birthday which is coming up soon.
I purchased the Legendary pattern by Elizabeth Hartman and some of the fabrics whilst we were away as I was lucky to visit the Prickly Pear quilt shop in Montana, and the Rushin Tailors quilt shop in Skagway, Alaska.
The trees in the quilt were made from the Bali pops jelly roll and I have used different strips for each part of the tree.
And I found the perfect woodgrain print for the tree trunks.
For the background, I used a Moda Basic Grey Grunge fabric in cream.
The Sasquatch was made using a brown grunge blender.
I found the backing fabric at my LQS, "Rainbow Patchwork"  and the quilt was also long arm quilted there by Karen.
It was when we met up with the local "Sasquatch" in Harrison Hot Spings, on our second day of the trip that I knew that I just had to make the Legendary quilt.
Hoping hubby loves his new quilt and that it brings back memories of our first overseas holiday together.

Scrappy patchwork pincushion

After seeing all of the cute pincushions on Instagram last month for the #pinnieparade, I was keen to make one for myself.
I chose to make the Deluxe Pincushion from the "Sew Organised For The Busy Girl" book by Heidi Staples (@fabricmutt), and for the front pocket I was able to use up some very small scraps of Bonnie and Camille fabric leftover from other projects.
This was so much fun to make and would be a perfect little gift for anyone who sews.
